Francesca Whetnall Art & Crafts

Francesca Whetnall is a painter and printmaker working with a wide vocabulary of subject matter and techniques. After many years painting watercolours a course at Bournemouth’s Arts Institute re-ignited Francesca’s passion for printmaking. Inspired by Hockney, Kandinsky and Edward Bawden she creates vibrant linocuts, monoprints and collagraphs. Francesca’s love of colour and her graphic, illustrative approach shines through her work, whether the subject is portrait, landscape, still life or abstract.

In 2013 Francesca will be artist in residence at Pavilion Dance in Bournemouth, working with companies including Jane Mason, Elodie and Sadhana Dance. The residency will be an exciting opportunity to take inspiration from the creation of an original dance performance.

Originally from London where she studied at Wimbledon School of Art in the early 90s, Francesca Whetnall is now based on the beautiful South Coast. She has exhibited work at Bankside gallery in London and at galleries in Poole, Winchester, Southampton and Hastings. Francesca is a member of Red Hot Press in Southampton and Poole Printmakers with whom she regularly exhibits. In spring 2013 Francesca is running a series of ‘Printmaking for Beginners’ workshops at Poole Printmaking. Her work is in private collections worldwide.
